Vote early! Vote often! (If only I could!)

History's gonna get made tomorrow ... let's just hope it's the good kind.

It should be. It really should be. But the Democrats have a preternatural ability to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory so - as good as all the polls are looking right now - I won't breathe a sigh of relief until Fox News calls it for Obama.

Yay! indeed.

I always thought Obama was a riskier choice than Clinton (whom I considered close to a sure thing this year). IMO he was either going to lose by five points or win by five points. He ended up winning by five. :-D

Now the real work starts: can his presidency live up to his enormous potential and his inspiring rhetoric?

Will he be the post-partisan executive he has campaigned on or the liberal partisan his track record reflects? Either way he's going to disappoint a lot of people ... but hey, that comes with the job. He's got two years before there's a chance the Democratic House/Senate majority is up for grabs.

Personally, I'd love it if he was as willing to wield the power of the office to effect changes as sweeping as the ones that Bush made ... only, you know, on the side of the angels.

The United States is facing half a dozen major, MAJOR issues: healthcare, social security, ten trillion dollar national debt, destabilising fiscal crisis, vastly reduced international standing as a result of foreign policy disasters, global warming, and others. If he can tackle at least two of these before the mid-terms, I'd be a very happy chappy.

*You'd* be happy? There are a whole bunch of Americans who would be happier still!!!!!

Best wishes to, and prayers for, the new administration.
