The writng life

Earlier today I became utterly certain that I couldn't write another word until the refrigerator was clean (well, cleaner).

How'd that work out for you?

For the 'fridge?

BTW, love the title!

Oh, I got back to work eventually -- even finished Chapter 14. However, all that meant was that I now have Chapter 15 breathing down my neck. The fridge is marginally cleaner. The title is NOT a metaplasmus, but a typo. Alas.

I believe that in normal English usage, the term metaplasm would be used. "Metaplasmus" is the pretentious label given to the figure of speech that uses that device.

A tiny point, I know, but then, what else is an academic degree for, if not splitting the hairs of its subject matter?

In short, "metaplasm" is an instance of intentional misspelling. "Metaplasmus" is the use of that device for some rhetorical effect.

I now return to my search for a real life.
